VCC Johnston - MacBook Podium Connection (AirMedia Wireless)

Question

How do I connect my MacBook to the Podium in VCC 202 Johnston?

Since a Direct HDMI connection at this Podium is currently not possible, here is an alternative solution.

Step-by-step instruction

(1): Power the Crestron touch panel on, enter the password (if necessary), and confirm AirMedia is selected.

Please select which projector you wish to present your content on the Left side, the Right side, or Both.

(2): Type in the URL on your browsers search bar (as listed on the bottom left as shown "Visit: http://.........." ) and take note of the 4-digit pin code for Step #8.

Please note: the following examples should appear on your MacBook.

(3): Click the button Start Presenting. Click Allow to approve the page to open the Crestron AirMedia program.

(4): If this is your initial visit to this room or have deleted the Crestron files, click the Mac button to download the necessary software to your MacBook. Click Allow to approve download.

(5): Once downloaded, double-click the AirMedia dmg file (ex. lower right corner, as pictured) to start the installation process of the software. Double-click the AirMedia dmg file in the Downloads folder.

Double-click the Crestron AirMedia icon to open the program.

A GuestCrestronAirMedia icon will appear on the desktop.

(6): Once downloaded, the following request should appear. Click OPEN to install the software.

(7): Desktop Application Permissions: Click Agree and OK.

(8): Please follow the directions closely. A Crestron AirMedia window will appear giving directions for Screen Mirroring using Apple AirPlay. At the top Taskbar, click the AirPlay icon and select the AM-200# associated with the room you are located in.

(9): Type in the correct 4-digit pin code from Step #2 and press enter.

(10): Your MacBook and contents should start to appear on the TV screen. If you wish to show your contents at FULL SCREEN, press fn+F on your keyboard or click VIEW desktops taskbar and select ENTER FULL SCREEN.

Presentation Completion and Disconnection

Once you have completed the presentation and wish to disconnect properly, please complete the following steps:

(1): Press the Disconnect button and your MacBook content should disappear and the original Crestron screen should appear on the screen. Or click on the AirPlay icon and select the AM-200# associated with the room you are located in.

(2): Right-click the GuestCrestronAirMedia icon on your desktop and select Eject for complete disconnection and the icon will be sent to your Trash icon for you to empty.

Error Message Troubleshooting

  • A message that says “Unable to verify AirMedia Certificate” or “No Receivers Detected” may appear. Type in the URL# (from Step #2) in the above window as listed above. After clicking enter, immediately click on the AirPlay icon to get the drop-down screen and select the AM-200# associated with the room you are located in. Type in the correct 4-digit pin code (from Step #2) and press enter.

Other notable Troubleshooting Techniques:

  • Confirm that your device is also connected to the campus Wi-Fi (eduroam) and you are signed in correctly using your WesternU credentials.

  • Double-check that the device you are trying to display is connected to AirPlay or Screen Mirroring depending on the MacOS or iOS version of the device being used.

  • The same 4-digit code must be entered twice to connect to AirMedia.
