How to Search Keywords in Mediasite Closed Captions

Preface

Online Education utilizes the platform Mediasite to store training videos and videos will always have automatically created closed captions available for user reference. If you would like to search keywords within the video to locate specific training content, searching closed captions is a good way to accomplish this.

Step-by-step

  1. Press play on the video you are referencing
  2. Click the "CC" logo visible at the bottom right-hand corner of the player window to enable closed captions

  1. Once closed captions are enabled, hover over the three white dots at the very bottom right-hand corner of the player window and select the option "Search"

  1. Once "Search" is selected, an area will appear in the player window with a field that allows for keyword searches. Upon selection of a search result, the video will automatically jump to and display the area of the recording that includes that term.
