What is Self Service+ ?

  • Self Service+ is an application managed by WesternU IT to provide software, updates, account management features to your Apple macOS device
  • Allows you to download software and access resources without the need to be an Admin on the device
  • Works with Jamf Connect to sync your WesternU password to your device, you are able to view and manage your account in this application
  • Allows you to request Admin privileges to your device for a set time

How to open Self Service+

  1. Open from Dock
  2. Self Service+ menu bar icon
  3. Explore Menu
    a. your account
    b. change your WesternU password
    c. open Self Service+ app
    d. open WesternU Support page
    e. admin privilege

Account Management & Admin Request

  • Access Account Management tools 
    1. WesternU Account
    2. Sync status of your WesternU Password with the local device password (used for device login)

 

  • Change WesternU Password
    1. Access for password change
    2. After login enter new password
    3. Complete password change

 

  • Users are now able to request Admin Privileges on their device 
    • You are allowed 7 request per month
    • You must provide a reason for each request
    • Each privilege session last for 10 minutes

2. After login, you will need to enter a reason for the request

 

3. Admin privileges approved
a. confirmation
b. status
c. timer
d. end session

  1. WesternU Resources
    • bookmarks to relevant WesternU services
  2. Catalog
    • main folder for software
    • sub folders organize software
  3. Notifications
    • notifications from managed software or WesternU IT
  4. Updates
    • macOS updates that are managed by WesternU IT
