To manage the AV technology in the room, at the front of the classroom, there is a lectern with an AMX touch panel system resting on the tabletop. The touch panel screen is used to communicate with our AV system by tapping on the buttons you see on screen. Above is a sample screen shot of what the idle screen looks like. The idle screen will display the room name on the top left-hand corner and the current date on the top right-hand corner. If the date displayed is incorrect, then it is most likely due to the touch panel losing network connection. If you experience this, please contact Tech Support immediately. Tap the touch panel screen and this should wake the system up and display the home/main screen with the following five options:
Room PC
Laptop
Document Camera
Image Mute
Image Unmute
(Sample screenshot of the interface when the system enters the Home screen)
The first three options (Room PC, Laptop, and Document Camera) selects the sources available. The last two options control the muting and unmuting of the image displayed. In order to switch between the three sources after you have selected the initial source to turn on the system, just tap on the Home icon on the upper right-hand corner to return the main screen with the five options. Once at the main screen, tap the source you want to switch to next. The below instructions for the three sources are below.
To display the PC source when turning the system on:
- Ensure the PC is on and is displaying on the PC monitor, then select Room PC on the touch panel display, and it should turn the system on (assuming it is not on yet) and the projector screen will lower and block out the blackboards behind it
- The audio will be automatically routed to the ceiling speakers
- The screen should display the PC image
To display the Laptop source when turning the system on:
- Plug the HDMI cable or VGA cable (please use the Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA Adapter, if needed) to the device and ensure the laptop or portable device is on and is displaying on the integrated screen, then select Laptop on the touch panel display, and it should turn the system on (assuming it is not on yet) and the projector screen will lower and block out the blackboards behind it
- The audio will be automatically routed to the ceiling speakers
- The screen should display the laptop or portable device
To display the document camera source when turning the system on:
- Pull the drawer on the right side of the lectern and you will see the document camera folded down into its compact state
- To extend the document camera to it's normal working state, pull up on the round tab with the hole in it
- Select Document Camera on the touch panel display, and it should turn the system on (assuming it is not on yet) and the projector screen will lower and block out the blackboards behind it
- The document camera will turn on automatically once you extend the camera to its normal working state
- The audio will be automatically routed to the ceiling speakers
- The screen should display the Document camera
- The touch panel screen will switch to document camera controls, which will allow the user to adjust the settings for the document camera
- The settings can adjusted physically at the document camera itself instead of through the touch panel, too
To mute and unmute the three sources:
- Select Image Mute and the projector will mute the video and audio on which ever source you have selected (Room PC, Laptop, or Document camera)
- The mute feature will black out the screen and cut the audio feed to the ceiling speakers
- To disable the mute feature, select Image Unmute and both video and audio will return to normal
- Please note that if you shut down the system while the mute feature is enabled, the system will keep the mute setting on, and will need to be disabled when the system is turned back on the next time
Teleconference Instructions:
- Log into the teleconferencing session (Zoom, Teams, and others similar software), and the video source and audio sources should be configured automatically, however, it can sometimes be changed by previous users or a glitch during software updates
- To ensure that your video and audio sources are correct and working, we highly recommend that the presenter checks and verifies the video source and the audio source are pointing to the correct equipment and to run a video/audio test a few minutes before the class begins, in order to have enough time to readjust the settings or contact Tech Support for assistance before the class begins
- Once you are logged into the teleconferencing session, go to the video settings and check the camera settings and verify that it points to AV Bridge Conference as the source of the video from where you are projecting your video from
- In this room, the video camera is at the back of the room
- Some software will show you a live feed of the source you selected in order to confirm the video feed is working
- Once you confirm the video source, go to the audio settings and check the microphone settings and verify that it points to AV Bridge Conference
- Some software will have the ability to test the microphone source beforehand
- Go to the speaker settings and make sure it points to DVX-3256 (HD Audio Driver for Display Audio)
- Once all of these settings are confirmed, please test it to verify you have incoming and outgoing audio and the video feed in the classroom is working correctly
Advisory:
- If all of these settings are configured correctly and you are still having issues, please reboot the teleconferencing session first and verify all of the settings are correct and try the video/audio test again
- If it still fails, reboot the entire teleconferencing software and go back into your session and verify the sources one more time and test the video/audio one more time
- If it continues to fail, please contact Tech Support at 909.469.5432 or call x5432 from the classroom phone, located on the tabletop of the lectern.
To manage Classroom AV audio and Microphone audio:
- On the bottom of the screen, there are two buttons with a percentage bar between them
- The left button is the speaker icon for the entire audio system, and the right button is the microphone icon for the microphone system
- To mute the microphones, just tap the microphone button and a red slash will appear over it and the microphone feed will be muted
- The microphones will be on and working but the feed to the AV system will be muted
- To unmute it, just tap the microphone button again and the red slash will disappear and the audio feed will be re-enabled
- To mute all audio in the classroom, just tap the speaker button and a red slash will appear over it and both the PC audio and microphone will be muted
- The PC audio will still be playing and the microphone feed will be on and working but the feed to the AV system will be muted for both audio feeds
- To unmute it, just tap the speaker button again and the red slash will disappear and the audio feeds will be re-enabled
- To raise and lower the audio, just adjust the sliding bar that is between the speaker button and the microphone button
- A percentage sign of how high the volume is for the entire audio system is shown
- Please do not max out the volume settings, unless necessary
- Please lower the volume settings, if you have it set to max, when your AV needs are complete, in order to avoid damaging the speakers or the users ears for the next uses of the room
- If you are experiencing any audio issues, please check and verify that neither of these two audio selections are set to mute and that the volume setting is not set too low.
To turn off the system:
(Sample screenshot of Powering off feature)
- On the bottom of the screen, you will see a power button on the left side
- Select it and then it will ask you to Confirm or Cancel
- If you are ready to turn off the system, select Confirm and the system will begin it's shutdown procedures and it will take 2 minutes before it can be restarted
- If you are not ready to turn off the system, select Cancel
