Step 1:
On the SharePoint site, select the settings gear from the top right corner and then select site permissions
Step 2:
Select advanced permission settings
Step 3:
Select the group that corresponds to the permission level you want to grant the user(s)
Step 4:
Select New as seen below
Step 5:
Enter the names or email addresses of the user(s) you want to share the site with and select the name from the drop down. Select SHOW OPTIONS to select whether you'd like the user(s) to be notified via email that the site has been shared with them. Then select share.

On the sites document library, select the settings gear from the top right corner and then select library settings

Select more library settings
Step 3:
Select permissions for this document library
Step 4:
To change the type of permissions the SharePoint group has or to grant someone access to the document library outside of the SharePoint groups then select stop inheriting permissions from the top left corner
Step 5:
Select OK on the prompt to confirm
Step 6:
You can now adjust the permissions for the SharePoint groups or grant permissions individually:
- To adjust the permissions for the group, select the first square to the left of the group name, then select edit user permissions from the top right, then unselect the permission level that is currently selected, then select the new permission level and select OK to save the changes.
- To grant permissions individually, select grant permissions from the top right, enter the names or email addresses of the user(s) you want to share the documents with and select the name from the drop down. Select SHOW OPTIONS to select whether you'd like the user(s) to be notified via email that the documents have been shared with them. Then select share.

On the sites documents, hover over the name of the folder or file you want to manage or grant access to

Select the ellipsis (three dots) to the right of the name and then select manage access
Step 3:
To grant access, share or stop sharing select from either option as seen below. Please keep in mind, the number of people, groups and links will vary.
Step 4:
To change the type of permissions the site members and site visitors have, select Groups, and then select the site members or site visitors group. Underneath ways this group has access, select the Direct Access dropdown, and then select the can view or can edit button. You can change the level of permissions the group has, or you can remove the groups direct access. When you're done making the change, select Apply.
