Recall an Email
This KB can be used to assist you with recalling an email in Outlook.
Outlook Desktop App
- Navigate to the sent email in your Sent Items folder in Outlook
- Double-click the sent e-mail to open the sent email
- In the Message ribbon at the top of the window, please select the ellipses to bring up more options
- Hover over Actions to reveal the Actions Menu
- Click Recall This message to recall the email
- You will receive an email stating that you have attempted to recall the message
- If a message was able to be recalled, you will receive a Message Recall Success email
- If a message was unable to be recalled, you will receive a Message Recall Failure email
- If the message was unable to be recalled, and you need the message deleted due to HIPAA or FERPA violations, please submit a Misc. Mailbox Request.
Outlook Web Application (OWA)
Microsoft does not allow the recall feature via the Outlook Web Application(OWA). If you need to recall a message, please use open the Outlook desktop application and follow the steps above.
