Temperature Alerts

Enviromux Temperature Alert

This alert means that the temperature in a network IDF or equipment room has exceeded its configured threshold (usually 90° F) for more than 5 minutes. The alert identifies the sensor and the affected location.

Procedure

  1. Review the alert and identify the affected IDF, the current temperature, and the time of the alert.
  2. Notify Facilities and provide them with the affected IDF and current temperature.
  3. Ask Facilities to have their HVAC staff inspect the room and verify that cooling is operating normally.
  4. If the temperature continues to rise, the alert repeats, or network equipment reports problems, notify Network Operations immediately.

Do not dismiss the alert simply because the network equipment is still online. Extended exposure to high temperature can damage equipment or cause an unexpected outage.

Recovery Alert

A recovery alert means that the temperature has returned below the configured threshold. It does not confirm that the HVAC problem has been corrected. If Facilities has already been notified, allow them to complete their inspection and confirm that the room is operating normally.
