AV Support Guide on How to Use Audio Visual Equipment in HEC: Classroom D

Health Education Center: Classroom D AV Support Guide

This guide will show how to use the AV Equipment in Classroom D. The Classroom is controlled by a Touch Panel located at the podium.

1. Present Source

The AV Touch Panel is a user interface device that is used to control all the audio-visual equipment in a classroom or conference room. 

To turn on the AV Equipment, please tap on the screen of the touch panel and enter "309" for the passcode and select enter.

Please tap the touch panel again to start the boot up process of the AV System. This will start operating the screens for the projectors. The projectors screen will roll down from the ceiling and the projectors will power on and show the Main Monitor Screen from the PC.

Once the passcode has been entered, the Touch Panel will be in the Main Menu.

The Main Menu of the Touch Panel is called the Presentation Screen. This screen will control on what is shown on the Projectors. 

The left and right projectors will show what is selected. Please tap on a input to make a selection. The box will turn blue as shown above. For this example, The PC Main Display has been selected for both left and right projectors. It will now be on the projectors for the audience to see.

Please Note: The AV System can also display different sources for the left and right projectors. For Example: The system can display PC Main for  the Left Projector and Lectern Laptop for the Right Projector.

2. Confidence Source

A confidence monitor is a TV that allows faculty to see a visual feed of what the audience is seeing or hearing. In this classroom, the confidence are located to behind the seating area.

The confidence monitors can be used to display a range of content, such as slides and live video feed of audience or notes. The menu for the confidence monitors is the second tab from the left portion for the touch panel. 

In this menu, It allows the user to control what is shown on the Confidence Monitors. It is the same options as the projectors. It will only be displayed to the Confidence Monitors for the user to quickly reference their notes or visual aids without turning away from the audience.

3. Projector Control 

Projector Control refers to the ability to remotely operate and manage the projectors in the classroom. In this menu, the user is able to turn off and on the projectors and control the projector screens.

Please Note: In this menu the user is able to mute both projectors. This will temporarily disable the projectors until the Image Mute button is pressed again.

4. Display

This menu allows the user to turn off and on the confidence monitors as mentioned before.

Please Note: The confidence monitors will turn on automatically when the AV System is turned on. 

5. Cameras

Camera control refers to the ability to remotely operate and manage the camera using the AV touch panel. This allows the user to adjust Zoom, Focus, Tilt and Pan Speed. In Classroom D there are four Cameras to control. 

  • Cam PR1 (Right Camera)  
  • Cam PR2 (Center)              
  • Cam PR3 (Left)                  
  • Cam AUD (Audience)        

6. Lighting Control

The lighting control tab refers to the ability to remote operate and manage the lighting system from the control panel. The AV system has 5 different lighting modes.

  • All On
  • Present
  • Medium                                                                                           
  • Low
  • All Off

7. Volume

Volume Control for an AV System is a essential feature. It allows the user to adjust the sound level to a comfortable level and to balance the audio levels of different sources. The microphones can be used to communicate in-person in the classroom or via Zoom. In Classroom D, the AV System 5 different audio levels to control.

  • Handheld Mic          
  • Lavalier Mic 1
  • Lavalier Mic 2
  • Program Audio 
  • Aux Out                 

8. Shutting Down the AV System

To shut down the AV System. Please navigate to the last tab on the left of the AV Touch Panel.

When finished with the AV system. Please return all AV Microphones to the charging station. As shown, below.

Zoom Mode

This is a feature used when using Zoom for video conferencing. This interface allows the user to configure the camera for Zoom. The user must select the Zoom Mode to connect the camera to Zoom. The Camera will not appear automatically, it must be selected. 

The user is able to select a Camera for Zoom. The four cameras in this classroom can be used for Zoom. Please note: Only one camera can be selected at a time.
